MOSIMAN CLAIMS BACK-TO-BACK PODIUMS WITH SECOND-PLACE IN ANAHEIM

Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing keep title hopes alive after four rounds.

Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing returned to Anaheim, California for our second shot at the gnarly Anaheim Supercross and man, was it wild! Michael Mosiman scored back-to-back 250SX podiums with an impressive second-place ride on the MC 250F. For Justin Barcia, it was a seventh-place result on the night but a hard-fought performance in the super stacked 450SX class where he still enjoys a top-five position in the overall standings.

  • Mosiman earns back-to-back 250SX podiums in SoCal
  • The MC 250F enjoys its third heat-race win of the season
  • Barcia delivers a solid performance for seventh

Coming off a huge win last weekend, Mosiman brought his “A game” into Round 4 with a second-place qualifying position earlier in the day. With a second-place start in tonight’s heat race, he challenged the leader early on and eventually overtook the lead with two laps to go. Smooth and steady, Mosiman collected his third heat-race win of the season.

Mosiman delivered another great start in the Main Event, charging into second on the first lap. He passed for the lead right away on the second lap and he held his own out front for eight laps before getting passed just after the halfway point. He fought hard in the remaining laps to keep himself in the lead battle, finishing only 2.9 seconds away from the win in Anaheim.

Michael Mosiman: “I’m stoked to be here! It’s not too often that these things happen and when they do, I’m just going to enjoy it. Such a good race with Christian, he’s riding so good – I learned a thing or two from him and I think he learned a thing or two from me. We had clean racing out there and it was an absolute blast! I’m going to enjoy it tonight and work on some things. I look forward to challenging him all year and see if we can get some more wins.”

In the 450SX class, Barcia began the day with positive vibes as he rode his MC 450F to a season-best qualifying position. In the heat race, Barcia started off around eighth and he clicked off a few good laps to bring himself into the top-five halfway through the race. He charged up to third with two laps to go and he finished strong with a top-three in the heat.

In the Main Event, Barcia found himself outside the top-15 off the start but he quickly battled into the top-10 about five laps in. He mixed it up between seventh and eighth for most of the race, ultimately staking claim on seventh for the night.

Justin Barcia: "All-in-all, it was a good day. We were having a lot of fun in practice! I felt like it was one of my better practices of the year so far and I was getting comfortable on the bike. I got a really bad start in the Main Event and with how the field is so fast right now, I wasn’t able to get where I wanted to be so seventh was the best finish I could pull off tonight. I’m going to go back to the drawing board, get my starts dialed and we’ll be back in Phoenix and ready to be back on the podium!”

The Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team will return to racing next Saturday, February 5 for the fifth round in Glendale, Arizona.
