TROY LEE DESIGNS/RED BULL/KTM SHOWCASE SPEED IN SOUTHWICK

Southwick, Mass. (July 9, 2016) – Pro Motocross made its return to the sands of Southwick, Massachusetts and both Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/KTM riders displayed their speed at Round 7. While the results don’t tell the whole story, Shane McElrath nearly had his second moto podium of the season, and Mitchell Oldenburg put in a season-high ride in Moto 1. In the end, Oldenburg scored 13th overall and McElrath 17th. Oldenburg opened the day with a great start in Moto 1. He was in the top five and was able to ride the tough track for over 35 minutes to claim a season-high sixth place. Unfortunately the second moto he had an issue on the opening lap, putting him 39th when he came around for the green flag. Oldenburg tried to make up as much time as he could but only could make it to 29th. His 6-29 moto result placed him 13th overall. It was a rollercoaster of a day for McElrath who had led laps, nearly grabbed his second moto podium of the year, but ended the day with a crash in a choppy, rutted part of the track in Moto 2 after running third the entire race. The 17th overall result didn’t do any justice for the speed that McElrath was showcasing throughout the day. Both riders will look to bounce back with top 10 results next weekend as the series continues to push on during the 12-round season, lining up for Round 8 on July 16 at Spring Creek Motocross Park in Millville, Minnesota. The Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/KTM riders were decked out in the GP Air 50/50 Blue and White and the GP Air Electro Blue and White racewear with the SE4 Twilight Navy helmet.
