TROY LEE DESIGNS’ KAILUB RUSSELL SECURES GNCC SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP ONE ROUND EARLY

ST. CLARISVILLE, OH. (October 8, 2017) – Troy Lee Designs’ off road athlete Kailub Russell brings home the Grand National Cross Country Championship! Kailub took the round 12 win at Powerline Park which sealed the deal one round early and earned his 5th consecutive title aboard his FMF/KTM Factory ride. Russell started mid pack, and then the rain started to come down early in the race. The track became slick and muddy which forced an error on Kailub’s end and caused him to tip over. The crash resulted in a broken front fender but Kailub quickly returned to his bike and charged forward. Kailub then made some moves and reeled in a couple riders to sit in 2nd place and within striking distance of the leader. Russell went on to capitalize after a mistake from the leader and make take over the top spot which he controlled the rest of the race. The win not only marked Kailub Russell’s 5th GNCC championship title, but also ties him for the most-all time GNCC wins! Kailub added, “It’s been a great a year and I’m happy to get number five and tie the all-time win record today.” FMF/KTM/TLD teammate Russell Bobbitt also had a solid round and captured his first career GNCC podium finish with a 3rd place finish in Ohio.
